Oscars 2014 Nominations Race: In the previous article, I gave you our predictions of Oscars 2014 nominations for Best Picture. Now, we’ll brag about the next big category – Oscar for Best Director. The race for the Best Director Oscar is quiet crowded this year. There a couple of sure-shot nominees and a few most likely contestants which are gaining considerable votes. Let’s talk which are most favorites this year.
First and the foremost, Alfonoso Cuarón for Gravity is a sure-shot inclusion in the nominees for Best Director, so is Steve McQueen for 12 Years a Slave. These two will most likely be running for not just a nomination but the mighty Oscar Award. Then comes Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street followed by David O. Russell and/or Paul Greengrass for American Hustle and Captain Phillips respectively.
Those were the biggies – now let’s look at the director that have great potential to move up the order and claim a spot in the nominations. This section includes Ethan & Joel Coen for Inside Llewn Davis, Alexander Pyne for Nebraska, Spike Jonez for Her and Woody Allen for Blue Jasmine. There are a few other long-shots that might be included as well, but I’ll add those in the list below. Some director who have their movies coming up in a couple of months, might also get a nomination as well.
From our predicted directors for the Oscars 2014 nominations, Joel & Ethan Coen, Woody Allen, Martin Scorsese and Paul Greengrass have won one or more Oscars before. Others, however, will be trying their luck this time around for an Academy Award.
